How to Grow your Etsy shop with Affiliate Marketing
Since my Etsy shop is still a part time side hustle (for now), and given the fact that I work and I’m a full time mom and wife, I needed a tool that wouldn’t take up enormous amounts of time to implement.
While listening to a podcast about Etsy, I was introduced to a way to increase sales in my shop and increase views to my blog by using a tried and true marketing tool to cross promote both. Affiliate Marketing. I was curious, so for the next 30 minutes, I listened to Julianne, the owner of the Etsy shop, The Garter Girl, talk about how she uses affiliate marketing to promote complementary items in her shop and make extra income at the same time. Mind blown! I had to get this working for my shop too.
So, now I knew that affiliate marketing could be a great way to give my customers the resources and products that they were looking for by using the blog posts that I was already writing. I also wanted to ramp up my marketing efforts to get my products in front of the people that wanted to buy them. I decided that I was going to take action with affiliate marketing.
I didn’t want to just wing it. I knew that if I was going to get affiliate marketing to work for my shop and my blog, I was going to need help. So, I signed up for Michelle Schroeder-Gardner’s course, Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing after hearing her being interviewed on another podcast (yes…I have a thing for podcasts).
Learn Affiliate Marketing
Each chapter is well laid out with thorough explanations about how to implement the strategies, point by point. There are even workbooks that accompany each chapter so that you can write down the assignments and take notes.
At this point, you’re probably thinking, how can a course on affiliate marketing benefit my Etsy shop? Well, I’ll tell you. I use the same principles that I learned in Michelle’s course and apply them to my own products in my Etsy shop as well as to my affiliate products.
How Much Does It Cost?
What I Didn’t Like
Another minor issue was that I was not able to access the course via the Teachable app. This may have been a glitch in my version of the app. I’m not sure. Since I don’t often get huge blocks of time to myself (work, parenting, household duties, you know the drill) I like to be able to access my courses, books and podcasts when I’m out and about. Fortunately, I was able to log into the Teachable website on my phone’s internet browser and access the course. I found that to be a good work around for me.
What Kind of Results Can You Expect?
- Gained 4 times the amount of clicks
- More than doubled my transactions
- Increased my commissions by over 35%
I’ve already received my first payout after taking the course! I’m confident that these results will keep growing too.
You could just keep doing what you’re doing now and keep getting the same results or you could really learn from a blogger that has done the work for you and will show you exactly how to get the results you want.
